This native of Finistère arrived aged 15 at Rennes’ Academy. Pierre-Yves Hamel is a centre-forward who continued to progress whilst remaining under the radar. He had an excellent end to the 2012/2013 season with the Reserve side, and - in spite of recurring injury problems in 2013/2014 - he obtained a professional contract in April 2014. The whole of his year as a professional at the club was spent in the Reserve team in CFA2 (French 5th Division). Out of contract, Hamel signed for Avranches in National (French 3rd Division) in June 2015.
