Struggling in attack after the combined departures of Bangoura and Gyan at the end of August 2011, and with the recurrent injury problems which plagued Kembo-Ekoko and Montaño, Stade Rennais signed Razak Boukari in January 2011. Signed for 3 Million Euros from Lens, the Togolese winger made a blistering start against Cannes (7-0) with some sumptuous assists, and also found the back of the net, scoring 5 goals between January and March. At the end of the season 2010/2011, Boukari – much like the rest of his team - was a shadow of his early season self, and went on to have a mediocre 2011/2012 season, with multiple injuries and only 6 goals to show for his efforts. Sometimes being selected to play on the wing, sometimes as centre forward, he struggled after the arrival of Erding during the winter transfer window. In August 2012, he no longer figured in the plans of Manager Antonetti, in spite of a return of 11 goals in 51 appearances at Stade Rennais, and was transferred to Wolverhampton Wanderers for 3.79 Million Euros, with three years still to run on his contract.
