Roger Thévenot is striker from the Val d'Oise region, near Paris, and he began his professional career with Amiens between 1935 and 1937. The following season, he played for Valenciennes, before joining Stade Rennais in 1938. This prolific left-winger would score 29 goals in 43 games in the Second Division in a Rennes shirt. He would then play for a number of clubs during the Second World War, seeing action at Strasbourg, Red Star (Paris) and Amiens. Between 1943 and 1945, he returned to the Red and Blacks, where he played for the Federal team Rennes-Brittany. He ended his career with former club Amiens in the 1945/1946 season.
