If you had to sum up the profile of Sébastien Le Toux in one word, it would be: versatility. As a youth product at Stade Rennais, Le Toux played in each of the youth team categories until the prestigious victory in the Gambardella Cup (French FA Youth Cup) in 2003. During the cup run, he was picked to play in different positions from right-back to right winger. Unlike his team-mates Faty, Gourcuff or Briand, he never had the pleasure of signing a professional contract at Rennes. He left for Lorient in 2004, where he was to play 15 matches in Ligue 2, and then crossed the Atlantic in 2007 to join Seattle. There he went on to score 25 goals in 3 seasons. This profile then attracted the attention of clubs in the MLS, and Philadelphia signed him in 2010 as a centre-forward.
