When Sofiane Diop arrived at Stade Rennais’ Academy in 2015, he was only of the brightest French prospects out of those born in 2000. In the Spring of 2018, this attacking midfielder refused an apprentice professional contract offered by Rennes, so he could leave on a free transfer to another club. This happened in mid-June 2018, when he signed his first professional contract with AS Monaco.
