Having played 4 games for Evian Thonon Gaillard at just 17 years of age, Stéphane Diarra joined Stade Rennais on 27th July 2016. The striker, whose favoured side is on the left, signed a 3 season professional contract, and started out in the Reserve side. Without any game-time with the First Team, he was loaned with a buyout clause to Le Mans in July 2018. After a complete season of action, helping Le Mans to promotion to Ligue 2 in the process, he completed a permanent move to Le Mans in June 2019.
