Steven Moreira was a right-back, sometimes used on the right-hand side of midfield, who arrived at Stade Rennais on the eve of the 2009/2010 season. Born the Paris region, and with Cape Verde roots, he was renowned for his defensive qualities, but also for his attacking flair. As an understudy to Foulquier in the Gambardella Cup (French FA Youth Cup) in 2012, he was regularly called up by First Team Manager Antonetti to come and train with the professional squad in the 2012/2013 season. On 30th October 2012, in a League Cup Match against Arles-Avignon, he was included in the line-up on the team-sheet at the last minute with Danzé out ill. His first match was in a 1-4 defeat at Valenciennes on 11th May 2013, and provided his first assist for Erding against Ajaccio a week later. After 59 games as a professional footballer in all competitions, he extended his contract until 2018 on 29th September 2015. After being an outcast under Courbis from January 2016, several days after his first senior goal against Bourg-en-Bresse in the French Cup, he started the 2016/2017 season as first-choice with new manager Christian Gourcuff. But after a disappointing first match against Nice, he was dropped to the bench. On 30th August 2016, he was transferred to Lorient for 1.2 Million Euros.
