Czech Republic-born Vladimir Steigl was a forward who began his playing days with SK Cechie Smichov in Prague. In 1946, he was recruited by Stade Rennais, who would use him sparingly in different roles along the frontline of the Rennes attack. He would make a total of 25 appearances with the Red and Blacks, scoring six goals in his one-and-only season at the club, which he finished playing as centre-forward. Thereafter, he returned to the former Czechoslovakia, to Zilina (in modern-day Slovakia), where he would end his career as a footballer.
