Wesley Saïd arrived at Stade Rennais FC at the end of 2006, aged just 11 years old. Presented as a future star when he arrived from the Paris region, this pocket-sized attacker regularly featured with an older age group in all levels of the youth teams at Rennes. He was selected to play for France at U16 and U17 level, and logically signed his first professional contract at the club for 3 years in January 2013. Patrick Rampillon, Academy Director at Rennes had said of him in 2010: “If Saïd doesn’t turn pro, I will demand to be sacked immediately.” After 9 lacklustre appearances in the 2013/2014 under Philippe Montanier, he was loaned out to Stade Lavallois for the 2014/2015 season. Returning from loan, he made an appearance in Ligue 1 and extended his contract, before being loaned out to Dijon in Ligue 2. In the 2016/2017, Wesley Saïd enjoyed his best season as a professional at Stade Rennais, but still didn’t do enough to convince boss Christian Gourcuff. On 7th July 2017, he left the club after 11 years in Rennes to join Dijon for 1.5 Million Euros.
