Developed at Paris Saint Germain, Yacine Qasmi joined Stade Rennais FC for a season in 2011. The centre-forward was released by his nursery club, and took up Dréossi’s offer to come to Brittany. To earn his stripes and get a contract extension, the French-Moroccan striker had to juggle between playing for the Reserves in CFA2 (French 5th Division) and playing qualifying matches for Morocco to play at the Olympic Games in 2012. He succeeding in making it to London for the Olympics, but there was to be no contract extension in Rennes, who released him despite a successful season playing for the Reserves.
