Hailing from Brittany originally, Yannick Bajeot was developed at Rennes from 1978 onwards. As a defender, he was mainly deployed at right back, and he had to wait until the 1979/1980 season to get his first experience of being on the teamsheet in the First Team squad with the professionals. He only managed to find regular gametime as of 1981. Alas, he would only be used sparingly during his entire career with Rennes, making ten or so appearances - on average - each season. He would still end up with league title medal in the French Second Division in 1983, and went on to play 15 matches in the First Division the following season. In 1984, he moved on to Thonon in the Second Division, where he would play in just over 50 matches in total during his two seasons there. Spotted by Olympique Lyonnais in 1986, he signed for Lyon for two seasons which would prove to be his last as a professional footballer. He spent a final year playing amateur football at Troyes before hanging up his boots for good.
