The day after the unexpected departure of Kader Meïté to Al-Hilal, in Saudi Arabia, Stade Rennais procured the services of Yassir Zabiri. The Moroccan was developed at the same centre of excellence as former Rennes favourite, Nayef Aguerd, and current player Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal - all of whom passed through the Académie Mohamed VI in Rabat. Zabiri, a 20-year old striker, was transferred to the Red and Blacks from Portuguese outfit Famalicão for 10 Million Euros plus 2 Million Euros in potential bonuses, just a few months after helping Morocco's U20 side to win the World Cup, even netting a brace in the final against Argentina. Alas his first season with Rennes would prove to be anything but a success for Zabiri, with the Moroccan getting just a few fleeting substitute appearances to his name. During the 2026 Summer transfer window, Racing Club de Santander came in to give Zabiri the opportunity to achieve a greater amount of game-time, and the young attacker signed on 29th July 2026 for the Spanish outfit on a loan-only deal for the 2026-2027 season, without a buyout clause.
