Yoan Pivaty, with Martinique origins, was born in the Paris area, and joined the Stade Rennais Academy aged 15, having completed his spell at Clairefontaine. Developed as a striker, this left-footer progressively played in more withdrawn roles, until he ended up at left-back, a position which he didn’t enjoy, and he made his feelings on the matter quite clear to his Manager Laurent Huard. At the Final of the Gambardella Cup (French FA Youth Cup) in 2008 against Bordeaux, Pivaty came on as a substitute in Rennes’ victory. He then left the club to join La Vitréenne, before signing a first professional contract with PFK Etar in Bulgaria in 2012.
