Benjamin Levacher began football at the leading club in his hometown: Stade Rennais FC. This goalkeeper played through each age group in the Academy and made regularly demonstrated his exceptional reflexes. Situated between two golden generations at the club, he never got to lift the Gambardella Cup, nor the French Reserve Championship. But he still became fourth-choice goalkeeper at the club in 2007/2008 under Pierre Dréossi and then Guy Lacombe. As the absences of Simon Pouplin, Patrice Luzi and Fabrice Catherine came along, he managed to make 7 appearances on the team-sheet. Nevertheless, the club never offered him a professional contract, and he dropped into amateur football with Vitré after 15 years with Stade Rennais.
