Florent Besnard was a player from the same generation as Florent Chaigneau and Jacques Faty, notably. But, unlike his teammates, who became U17 World Champions, this left-sided midfielder never made it as a professional at Stade Rennais FC. His CV will still say that he was part of the squad which won the Gambardella Cup (French FA Youth Cup) in 2003, Reconverted to a left-back, he returned to his home town of Vannes in 2005 (along with Willy Barru) before getting a taste of Ligue 2 with Nimes in 2008.
