In the Summer of 2000, Florian Lucchini took advantage of the combined departures of Revault and Malicki to become third-choice keeper at Stade Rennais, behind Fabien Debec and Bernard Lama. He made the most of two occasions when the World Champion goalkeeper was absent to sit on the bench with the First Team in Division 1: At Lyon, and at home to Auxerre. The following season, he left the club to move to Corsica with the promotion of two young pretenders in the shape of Pouplin and Copa. Lucchini spent 5 years there before going on a tour of Europe with spells in Cyprus, Greece and Bulgaria.
