Algerian-born midfielder Ginés Rodriguez began his career in the French championship, in the First Division, with Excelsior AC. He would spend two seasons there, before signing for Second Division Nice in 1936. Technically-gifted, and mainly used in an attacking role, he would spend two seasons with the Eagles. In 1938, he was signed by Stade Rennais, where he was mostly used as an attacking midfielder. As a regular in the starting eleven, he would still only stay for one season in Rennes, before returning to Oran, in his native Algeria, and then finished his playing career in Spain.
