Guillaume Heinry joined Stade Rennais’ Academy setup in 2004. Developed as a full-back, he was part of the vintage year of Rennes youth products, with the likes of Théophile-Catherine, Le Marchand, Pajot, M’Vila or Brahimi. Unfortunately for Heinry, the competition was too fierce for him to achieve professional status at Stade Rennais. In 2008, he dropped down to play for La Vitréenne, and simultaneously moved up the pitch to play further forward. Thus, he discovered professional football in Ligue 2 for the first time with Bourg-en-Bresse in 2016, playing as an attacking midfielder.
