Argentine, born in the capital city of Buenos Aires; Hector Toublanc started his footballing journey in his native country with Argentinos Juniors in 1967. Mainly deployed as a midfielder, he was used as much as a ball-winner as a playmaker. In 1970, he made the trip over to Europe, signing for Stade Rennais. Initially, he played on amateur terms, but was quickly offered a professional contract at the behest of his teammates. He played ten matches on average per season for the first two years he spent at the club, and played a part in Rennes French Cup success in the 1970/1971 season, with substitute appearances in the Round of 64 and Round of 16 ties. Toublanc's final season at the club would be a pretty much a washout, only making one appearance. He left the Red and Blacks at the end of the 1972/1973 season to return to his homeland and live in Argentina.
