Last recruit of a crazy Winter transfer window at Stade Rennais, Ismaël Koné arrived at Stade Rennais on 3rd February 2025, in the form of a payable loan deal costing the Red and Blacks 1 Million Euros with a 14 Million Euro buyout clause from Olympique Marseille. Developed in Montréal, Koné became the first-ever Canadian player to sign for Rennes in the club's history. His stay in Brittany wasn't a particularly successful one, despite an improvement towards the end of the season. He finished his loan spell with 13 appearances in Red and Black to his name, scoring two goals, one at Angers, and one on the last day of the 2024/2025 season against his parent club, Marseille, to whom he subsequently returned, after Rennes decided not to take advantage the buyout clause.
