Arriving at Stade Rennais from local club CPB Bréquigny at the age of 10, Junior Assoumou climbed the ladder of all the youth teams up to the U21s. This left-sided defender was unable to make the breakthrough at this level, however. In 2014, he left Rennes to join Niort in the hope of obtaining a professional contract, which – alas – eluded him. In 2016, he finally got his career off the ground at Romorantin, and even became a Gabon international.
